When does the first baby tooth fall out?

Most children lose their first baby tooth between the ages of 5 and 7.
The first teeth to fall out are usually the two lower front teeth (mandibular central incisors), followed by the two upper front teeth (maxillary central incisors).

Generally, children whose baby teeth came in early tend to lose them a little earlier as well.
On the other hand, if your child is 7 and hasn't lost a single baby tooth yet, it's a good idea to get a dental checkup.

For reference, girls tend to lose their baby teeth earlier than boys.

What if my child's baby teeth are falling out too early?

If your child is 4 or younger and has started losing baby teeth, you're probably worried.
In that case, be sure to check these two things.

✅
Whether there was an injury
✅
Whether there are cavities

If neither applies,
it's most likely the permanent tooth naturally pushing out the baby tooth.

Should you pull out a loose tooth?

The answer is NO! It's best to let baby teeth fall out naturally. Forcing them out can create a risk of infection.

However, in the following cases, you can gently twist it out with clean gauze.

🦷 When the tooth is so loose it's about to fall out
👶 When your child says, "I want to pull this out!"

Is it okay for kids to wiggle their own teeth??

Many children loosen a wobbly tooth by touching it with their fingers, and this is a natural and healthy process.
Just make sure their hands are clean and that they brush twice a day.

How long it takes for all baby teeth to fall out!

From the moment the first baby tooth falls out, it takes about 6 years for all of them to be replaced by permanent teeth. This is when the teeth they'll use for life come in. So even if it's a bit of a hassle, building good oral care habits during this period is key.

Your child losing their first baby tooth means they've grown a little bit more. Don't worry too much, and watch each small change together :)
